Lebanon (Second try...)

Morning all,

I am having some trouble with Blogger. Yesterday I wrote a piece and it said that it had been published but when I checked it aint there. So lets try again...

I am still in Chekka, Lebanon. Last night had a good piss up with some locals at the beach bar of the Florida Beach Hotel. A guy brought some Arak, whuch is the Lebanese version of Ouzo. Its not as sweet as Ouzo but quite a bit stronger. So invariably this morning my head was a bit fuzzy, but hey, a good time was had by all...

My suitcase that was missing has been tracked down. It is still in London. The luggage handling company is refusing to release it. Air France has asked them to send it on three times but they refused without saying why. Great. No I can't finish my job and the customer is pissed off. Air France will be getting a nice claim for damages...

OK, let me see if this one wants to publish... I guess it could be the local firewall or system settings on this ancient Windows 2000 PC...

Cheerio,
Alex.

In the Lebanon...

Afternoon,

Again it has been a while since I updated. And, again, I have been busy travelling the world. When I last updated I was in Egypt but now I am in Lebanon.

Air Puke (Air France) is doing its level best to make my life hard.... When I arrived in Beirut my luggage didn't. Its now three days later and it still hasn't been found. This morning I had to go shopping to get some clothes as after three days in the same shorts and Tshirt I was starting to smell a bit like a dead dog. What is worse is that all my spares for the job here are in my suitcase as well. So I can't do my job, I can't go to the beach as I have no swimming cozzy, I can't do bugger all, all courtesy of my best mates Air Puke.

From what I have seen sofar Lebanon is cool. The weather is nice, the people are very friendly, the beer tastes good and my hotel (The Florida Beach Hotel in Chekka) is good. The food is ace again. Lots of good lamb and chicken kebabs and lots of nice salads, Homous, Tabulleh etc...

Just a pity I can't finish my job and get to the beach....

Never mind, travelling is not always nice.... Thanks Air France, thanks for nothing. Anice big claim will be winging its way to you...

Tourah Cement in Cairo, Egypt...

Afternoon all,

It has been quiet again as I have been travelling. I will update the site soon with some of the crazy stuff that has been happening. At the moment I am in Tourah, in the south of Cairo. I am working on an Italcementi site with my goo d friend George Haleim.

I have been here before. I did a job here two years ago and now I am back to do another system. Luckily for me George knows everything about our equipment so I could just sit down and let him and his men do the work.

We have finished the job in record time so I have a day to spare. I wish we could find more customers like George as this is very easy for us. Now I have a day spare and can go and look at some old rubbish (Pyramids...)

And possibly drink some more of that fanatastic egyptian beer Sakara!

More later!

Alex in Cairo.
